Oh I accept that alwaysonthego but I would have expected more of those who do work for DWP/SSA to refer to it occasionally. In having said that it is a mere observation - not a criticism. If the advice given is correct then it doesn't really matter.

I liked the CPAG handbook too - it was much more user-friendly than the DMG - but my copy is nearly 10 years out of date as I haven't worked in benefits for a while.

Wow! You learn something new everyday. I too am a CPAG disciple - but always useful to have another reference, especially from the 'other side of the fence' as it were!

    Thanks!

    Nearly Jules. ;)

The DMG is the Decision Makers Guide - the bible for any Decision Maker on how the relevant benefit law should be interpreted and applied.

Available on the DWP website for all to read.

No criticism implied but I do find it strange how seldom it is referred to on here given how important it is. When I was a DM for Income Support I referred to it most days on exactly the sort of issues that are raised in the forum.

OOPS should've known that. That'll teach me for posting when I'm half asleep!

Debt at highest May 04 - £65,639.22 - Started DMP with CCCS 1st June 04 & now self managed DMP
Debt now 20th December 2015 £31677.13 Paid Off to date £33962.09 - just not going quickly enough!

Debt free date July 2024! I don't think so, it'll be going quicker than that!!!
