You can certainly get some nice houses for the money in Ashford, but it is too far out really...
I work shifts and have to get in/home in the middle of the night sometimes so the train isn't really feasible... with petrol prices so high I don't really want to be commuting 100 miles a day.0 -

Well we've found what we think is a very nice place just off Tonbridge Road on the west side of the town.... it is perfect for schools (well grammars at least) and a short walk to all the stations and town centre.
Only downside is that you can hear the traffic on Tonbridge Road but the pluses for this property outweigh the negatives I think. Also there seem to be plenty of parks/river walks nearby so the dog should be happy.
Our offer has been accepted so fingers crossed it all works out OK now.

Hiya
Barming is really nice and sometimes u can get houses on the Beverley Estate which have been owned sicne year dot and just need updating for a much lower price than expected. I remember 12 years ago when the houses there were going for 100k
Best of luck0 -
Not sure if you will still be monitoring this thread but here we go. I have lived in Maidstone all my life and work for "a law enforcement agency" Hmm need I say no more. Avoid at all costs:- Tovil, Ringlestone, Mangravet, Parkwood, Shepway, Senacre, The Beverley Estate, (sorry Ilian). Fant area of Maidstone, lower town area of Tonbridge Road and East Malling. Nice areas are Allington,Bearsted, Madginford,West Malling, Larkfield, Leybourne surrounding villages (not Ulcombe). Maidstone actually has one of the lowest crime rates in Kent (After Ashford which has the lowest, believe it or not) Vinters Park is alrightish - it has gone down hill over the last few years (avoid the area by the shops). Boughton Village is nice however the new development at the back of Park Wood do not touch. It may be just in the Boughton Boundary but it is just an extension of parkwood with privately owned housing. If I think of anymore i will add them.Slimming World - SW 156 - CW 152.5 GW 133 - 19.5 lbs to go

not much of a step up from maidstone, but they are investing huge amounts in the town and theres now a high speed train link to london.
That's where I have just brought, I was looking at Maidstone however the ashford rail link to london sold it for me 28min to london! I live in tunbridge wells and that still takes 55 mins! Ashford is on the up and propertys are selling for over the asking price atm.0
