Tesco Computers For School Vouchers

Yep....its me again the computers-for-schools-obsessive! Hope this is right for this forum?

Please please please start collecting these vouchers, even if you dont have school aged children. Your local school is probably collecting them - my Tesco has a list up at the door of schools who have signed up to the scheme. Some local shops / post offices even have homemade collection boxes where you can donate your lovely vouchers, if you'd rather not post them to the school.
It's fantastic that Tesco's are giving away equipment, so please lets all rally round and help our schools.......'every little helps!'

I've said my bit now, thank you!

I agree with you. I work in a school which is very poor and in a great deal of debt (very apt for this site) and I am collecting the vouchers every week. It is a truly worthwhile thing to do.

The school that I teach in isn't collecting these vouchers as the town's Tesco is too far from the school, which is a shame. Instead, OH gives his to someone at his work whose mother's school is collecting them and I've found someone on MSE who is collecting them.

I'm send mine to my local school on the theory that my son may attend it when he is old enough;) They have a big sign up saying they are collecting the sainsburys vouchers but nothing about the tescos ones, however as they are only up the road from Tescos I think there is a good chance they are collecting them too!

Post them to your local school aardvark or even better an underprivalledged school in your area, they will make the best use of them. I think they may be able to use the ones from previous years too (i know it says on the back that any vouchers registered after such and such date will go towards next years computers for schools vouchers)

I always pay at the self scanning machines - then when you ask the checkout lady for your vouchers she just hands you a bundle. Never spend more than about £20 but usually come out with 7 or 8 vouchers (equivalent to £70-80 spend). The local school i work in despirately need new computer equipment.

Many thanks for your reply, I was'nt sure the old ones could still be used.

Is there a box or somewhere in Tesco's to donate these to?

I work in the IT section of a fairly big secondary school, and all I can say is plead with the Tescos people for more vouchers!! ;-)

When I'm in the petrol station, or in the store, I tell the cashiers that I work in IT in the local school, and invariably get a bigger bundle (or all the others that people have left behind!).

Although it takes shedloads of vouchers for just one machine, my school has previously benefitted from other electrical items and not just computer equipment.

Guess who has to count them all up though...

Hmph.......my local Tesco Extra has 'run out' of schools vouchers and checkout operators are endorsing receipts so you can go back in to collect them when they get them in.
They did this last year too, and I bet that most people don't go back for their vouchers!
Has this happened in other Tesco's?

I know it's not really the right board but you can win 2000 Computers for Schools vouchers here.
Hope one of you wins :D
