AOL Broadband

Hi
I hope someone can help me.
I have my broadband with AOL until October - it looks like I will be changing as I need a new laptop and it's no longer on offer (nor likely to be) from them.

Do I have to be an AOL customer to use AOL software to access accounts which I have set up through the AOL browser software?

I hope my question makes sense.

Thanks in anticipation.
Cres

When you say accounts, what do you mean? If you mean can you keep you internet address/es then the answer is yes, although you won't get the same facilities as you currently get such as Joanna Lumley telling you that you have email. Your account/s will become basic web-based & you just need to type in www.aol.com click on email & then put in your email name/address & password as usual to access any mail.

Any favourites etc you may have book marked in your aol browser will be lost once you are not a customer. The aol software will not work to enable connection once you are not a subscribing customer & you will need to access the web via internet explorer or another browser.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Not sure what you mean by accounts. I hope this is not a silly thing to say but do you mean bank accounts or even any other kind that needs you to login? If you do you just need your login details on any computer. Which AOL software are you referring to? I am with them but use Firefox and Google for browsing, never AOL. By the way, in the UK AOL was bought by Talk Talk (Carphone Warehouse).

Who have you got in mind to get your new laptop from? I have not looked at offers recently as I realised it was cheaper to buy my own laptop than get an inclusive package from AOL/Talk Talk. I only pay AOL £6.99 per month for broadband, nothing else. They did send me a free router.

Maybe you could explain better what you mean by "accounts".

Even if you leave AOL your AOL E Mail addresses will remain and as others have pointed out above you can pick it up from https://www.aol.co.uk or web based services like https://www.mail2web.com
