How to identify asbestos water tank

The bods doing our loft insulation aren't prepared to insulate under the old, disused water tank.

Surveyor 1 say: "that's an old steel tank, cut it up with a angle grinder"
Surveyor 2 say: "it's a ceramic of some sort, just hit it with a hammer"
Surveyor 3 say: "don't touch that asbestos tank, we just won't insulate that bit"

Any suggestions on how to find out who is correct?

If its not in the way it doesn't matter. Leave it be.

Surveyor 3 is wrong BTW there is no reason why they shouldn't move it to insulate under it and then move it back again. If it is asbestos then its only potentialy dangerous (and it will be asbestos cement using white asbestos which isn't the really nasty stuff) if you cut it or drill it. Leave it alone and it will be fine. If its not asbestos Surveyor 3 doesn't know what he is talking about and I'd be very cautious about using his firm if I were you. I have never seen a ceramic CSWT - assuming thats what it is.

Can you post a pic? - should be relatively easy to tell from that.

    Cheers
