Short success story:
My mom received her credit card statement with a leaflet giving a 4.9% balance transfer for life. My credit card (same bank) is not as good as hers, so i didnt get the special offer.
I cheekily phoned up pretending the special offer leaflet came in my statement and that i wanted to do a transfer. They said the offer isnt on my account - I said, 'well you've sent me a leaflet'. They checked again and said the special offer wasnt showing on my account - but been as though i received a leaflet in my statement, they'll have to 'force it through' - RESULT.
Saved me about £50 a month in interest!!!

My moms card was the 'halifax one'.
(Just received all my Alliance and Leceister new bank account stuff - didnt realise you get a credit card and its has 0% until Jan 07 - bonus.)0
