Loaded up a trolley of Tesco's engine oil today.
Stopped doing it instore and price reduced to 49p litre, same in some of the filling stations,

That's an excellent price, but not free. Maybe better on the grabbit board. But thanks anyway. Sounds ideal for a 16 year-old VW Polo!0

Cheap it may be but even an old engine needs decent oil.
Most owners of classic or high performance cars would argue that its more important for these engines.
At that price its not even covering the price of the base oil let alone any additives that give it the ability to do its job as an engine oil.
If you do use a cheap oil then plan to change it much more often and remember to add in the cost of a filter each time!Fiscally responsible or just a tight git? :

Using cheap oil and replacing it regularly is probably the best method for long engine life. By regularly I mean every 1000-2000 miles or so.
Personally I'm happy with the £4.50 semi synthetic from the motor factors.Happy chappy0 -
got both, still had today, just dont need anymore..shed full, it is actually good oil heavily discounted,0

Did they have any SAE 30 for lawn mowers? I went to Halfords and they wanted £5.50 for 1 liter own brand! Next time I will book an ECG before going again.0
