Will you be expecting sympathy when the DWP/ HMRC catch up with you? :rolleyes:Gone ... or have I?0 -
No, cause I know they wont, they are more concerned about people buying in bulk things like mobile phones cheap in china and then selling them on over here and not paying the taxes, rather than someone making a few hundred on ebaymortui non mordent0

I used to know some folks who've been selling on ebays for years.
and did well. and no one ever came for tax etc.
never made a fortune but enough for the tax man to take an interest if you tell them.
how many folks sell on Ebay............
they are only interested in catching bigger fish than small fries.
personaly some on here are just scare mongers with no proven fact.
just ignore them till they can prove it is so.
if you or I get a mouthful of abuse from them, then that to me prove that they know naff all only guessing .....
our local tax office scans local papers to see if any one is selling stuff as a business and not telling the tax office.
so if some one sell a load of equipment as one off ,the tax office are not interested but if every week well thats a different story.
I know this because a friend used to work in the local tax office .
and no I'm not making this up.0 -
If some disgruntled customer reports you to the tax man, then they will investigate.
They fry small fish, as well as the bigs ones. And Ebay is so transparent that the tax man will not have to do any more invsetigating than look at your sold items.
True "some folks" have been selling for years without paying tax.
I personally know "a folk" who got into deep sh1te when he was shopped to the tax man for selling on EBay.0 -
