Hsbc credit card

Options
I have had an HSBC credit card for 2 years and for the past year have had a £1200 amount which I pay off monthly. For the first few months the interest was charged at 16.9% but for no reason 5 months ago it went up to 19.9%. When I phoned them to ask why this had happened I was told they have the option to do this whenever they like and don't have to give a reason. Is there any way of making a complaint about this type of attitude towards their customers?

    In a word...no!

Look for the word "variable" in your credit agreement/T&C's.

Yup. If you can, either (a) pay it off and cancel the card or (b) balance transfer the amount and cancel the card.

And when you ring up to cancel, be sure to make your reasons clear to them.
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries

Same happened here! And now they have hiked it up to 21.9% I am annoyed that they haven't even bothered to send a letter/ put a leaflet in with statement pointing out the interest rate rises. They don't seem to have a problem contacting me when they are trying to sell me something.
