Hsbc credit card

I have had an HSBC credit card for 2 years and for the past year have had a £1200 amount which I pay off monthly. For the first few months the interest was charged at 16.9% but for no reason 5 months ago it went up to 19.9%. When I phoned them to ask why this had happened I was told they have the option to do this whenever they like and don't have to give a reason. Is there any way of making a complaint about this type of attitude towards their customers?

And when you ring up to cancel, be sure to make your reasons clear to them.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
same happened to me. They should have at least sent me a letter!0

Same happened here! And now they have hiked it up to 21.9% I am annoyed that they haven't even bothered to send a letter/ put a leaflet in with statement pointing out the interest rate rises. They don't seem to have a problem contacting me when they are trying to sell me something. :rolleyes:0
