What vegetables can I grow now? (July)

I planted some tomoatoes a few months ago and they are coming along really well.
Now i've got the fruit/vegetable bug!
I have planted some late potatos in pots and some strawberries but am wondering what else I could plant at this time of year. I can only plant in pots (have some good 30 litre ones) as the dog would ruin anything planted in boarders.
The only veg. we really don't like are corgettes(sp?) and runner beans, we are open to any other suggestions though.
We have space for a small greenhouse, 6 x 6 or 8 x 6 at a push. Is it worth investing in one? If so I would prefer one with plastic rather than glass (again due to the dog - he is a bit mad and would probably imbed himself in the glass). What would you all recommend?
Thank you in anticipation.

Spring cabbage. It's getting on, but you could still sow winter swede.
Dishes of boiled cabbage and turnip will be welcome in the austerity years ahead.0 -
You can plant lettuce and mixed leaves such as baby spinach/chard.
Kale, brussels, cabbage and broccoli for overwintering.
Garlic and onions setts can be planted in August onwards.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Now what about this greenhouse, is it worth me investing in one do you think?
Are you both planting from seeds?

This may be of use to you, just click on the relevant month to find out which fruit and veg you can plant.

You can still sow:
Borlloti Beans
Dwarf Climbing Beans
Beetroot (Globe & Cylindrical) - Boltardy & Cylindra are good varieties
Carrots - Amsterdam Forcing is good for this time of year
Chicory & Endive
Rocket
Most lettuces, make sure you plant in the shade as they will bolt if it is too hot and sunny. If your sowing at the end of the month consider a variety such as Winter Density
Spring Onions
Spring Cabbage - Offenham 2 is a good variety for July sowing
Hope this is of help

I have just bought a plastic cold frame for £5 from B&M (dont know if you have them or not) and instore/home bargains and B&M all have metal four shelf frames with plastic covers on which mimic greenhouse and are a FRACTION of the cost (eg £10!) plus have the advantage of not taking up much room. I love my cold frame, its a god send!
Only two people away from a threesome :grouphug:£2017 in 2017 = 0
