selling cds

Since i can get most of the music i want now on Spotify, i was thinking of selling some of my cd collection. I have about 250. Since i dont have a digital camera to put them all seperately on ebay, which would you say is the best way of getting the best price for them? I notice there are some sites where you put the bar codes in and they give you a price You then send them off and are supposed to get a cheque sent.
On closer inspection though they say the price quoted is not necessarily the one you get because if they fail quality inspections you may get money deducted. I wouldn't want to send them all off then get hardly any cash for them. Has anyone any experience of this at all?

The site that buys direct is musicmagpie but i have no experience of using them at all.

Have you looked at prices on Amazon as you can set up a seller account there and list against a catalogue.

I list a lot of Cds on amazon. The more obscure indie type music and soundtracks seem to get good prices. More popular things its not normally worth doing. So i normally sell those as a joblot on ebay

Only selling on amazon, they provide the artwork so not a problem. You can set your own price, but even then CDs can 'sit' as inventory for weeks/months and the amazon fees are quite high.

At least unlike Ebay, you can put 250 onto Amazon and then forget about them until you get an e-mail to despatch.

Getting a Cuecat (sp?) barcode scanner off Ebay certainly speeds up listing items on amazon. You can always sell it on when done.

I got rid of a load of mine by taking them to my local CEX shop. You take them in, they scan everything themselves then make you an offer, for either cash or an exchange voucher and you can then decide whether to let them have them or use an alternative. They don't offer you huge amounts but if the CDs don't have much value and/or you are in a rush to get rid of clutter (as I was :D) they can be useful. Have a look at their website to see if they have a branch near you - http://www.cex.co.uk/

FYI, musicmagpie sell on Amazon - so check the prices there first imo.

musicmagpie is a rip! My bf and I were trying it out and it quoted one of his albums as £1 but on Amazon it was going for £8.99 USED! so be careful and look around first!

Any of the resellers - mapgie, cex, cash convereters, will be looking to make a profit on resale - if the storage space, listing time and selling effort is more important than the revenue, then go for any one of them.

If you sell on eBay, they could sit for months without a sniff of a sale, but your best bet is to do small lots of similar CD's - all the same artist, or same year, same genre etc. Job lots sell a lot better and quicker than the combined individual CD's, and if they are listed in the whoelsale section, you can still charge separate P&P.

I like MusicMagpie. Of course they aren't going to give you a high price, but I expected that. I have sold lots of CDs on there that didn't shift on Amazon (even at the lowest offer). Plus it's so much easier just packaging up a whole lot at once.

I sold a couple on play.com, their fees and competition are a bit off putting, but if you don't really care what you get then it seems pretty good, but of course it can be sitting there forever which is weird to me, we're ebay sellers and not used to having things to suddenly post. :o
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p
