Hi,
As I mentioned in a previous thread, i'm have problems with iTunes which has left my iPod empty. I'm getting an error message saying that itunes.exe has a corrupt file and that I need to go to ipod_control\itunes\itunesDB and run the Chkdsk utility.
Has anyone seen this before? I could not find any of the above folders in iTunes' folders in my C drive. I've hada look at Apple's FAQ / support site but haven't found anything of use.
Cheers,
Ian.

You probably can't find the folders because they are hidden. In Windows Explorer, click Tools - Folder options - View tab - in Advanced settings select 'Show hidden files and folders' and click OK.
For the missing tunes, there are some suggestions at http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=5228580 -
That's great, thanks. The error message in that Google link is the same as I've had.

Just FYI, ipod_control\itunes\itunesDB refers to a location on the Ipod's hard-disk, not on your PC's disk.
If your Ipod is new and you've still got copies of the mp3 music on the PC, I'd be tempted to run the Ipod updater to reinstall the s/w and format the Ipod's hard disk, then start again.0 -

Am I right in thinking that uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes WON'T cause me to lose my music? Was going to back it up onto an external drive/ DVD anyway, but I'm pretty sure that as the music library is stored separately it won't be affected be reinstalling updated iTunes/ iPod software.0 -
Problem was solved by restoring the iPod's factory settings using the iPod Updater. Apparently the error message I got is quite a common one but can usually be easily resolved.
