If you need boxes just try a local shop/supplier that sells a lot of stuff.
The place I used to work at had to pay to have the cardboard skip emptied, up to twice a week, and we sometimes had people coming in asking for boxes, they were free to take as many as they wanted.
If you're going round asking for cardboard don't do it on a wet day though as it's often stored outside0 -
I worked as a greengrocer for a while and we had boxes stacked up to the ceiling. Some got used again for orders, but mostly they were thrown out. It might be a place to start.0

I'm in Newcastle
Ran out again, there's a road near me with loads of shops and greengrocers on it, will ask around and if they don't have any will go back to the corner shop and see if they have any more

When I was at University I found Borders a good place for boxes, they were also really strong because they were being used for books.0

If you ask a supermarket to save them, please either collect them or tell them you've changed your mind. We get so many people asking for boxes and not coming back, and it's annoying. We haven't the space to save all the boxes, and then have to tell other customers we haven't got any. So it ruins it for everyone else.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Hi there,
I too am moving house (end of August) and am looking for a fair amount of boxes (I definitely own too much stuff!!!), preferably second hand and have tried asking in local shops- no such luck however, most seem quite unwilling or those they showed me were damaged or damp and so not really worth it.
I have used helpineedboxes.co.uk on a previous move (and the boxes were great, unfortunately I gave them away after the move) and had a look, but just haven't got the money to spend on new ones.
Anyone in the Leeds area maybe who can help me out with second hand moving boxes?
Thanks so much for any suggestions/help

Hi All, best place I have found is asking in McDonalds for fry boxes. They are all uniform in size and perfect for packing/carrying. If you ask really nicely you can normally get as many as you want before they are sent back for recycling. A tip though..... dont ask when it is busy!!!!! Good time is about 11am.0
