Roughcast and frost damage?

In February I had a builder cut out around several cracks on the side and back walls down to the brick which showed the same cracks. However he was unreliable and came and went as he pleased. My question is this-
He left the bricks exposed during the very bad weather we had up here when it was about -4 degrees. He came back the following week and coated and roughcast the areas.Do you think that there is the possibility that the frost would have damaged the external walls in any way?

as long as he didn`t use cement when it was below zero it should probably be OK, if you want to check scrape a hammer along the wall, if it is loose you will hear a hollow sound at the patch0

I think he probably did.Is it cement they use? It's grey in colour then he threw the chips on it for the roughcast.
I know that it's my own fault that I let him go ahead in such bad weather but he was fitting a window in and doing internal work.He kept pushing me to do the outside work.I think that he needed the money.Unfortunately I relented.
Anyway it was a bit of a nightmare altogether.0 -
just to avoid confusion, what they use is mortar, a mixture of sand, cement and water.Problems occur if the water freezes before the mortar has set but because the chemical reaction generates heat you can sometimes be lucky, if the patch was in the sunshine and the temp wasn`t too low then it might have set ok0
