    No - because as others have stated although one person is the "claimant" - the partner is a part of that claim. It's impossible for them not to be if they are living together as husband and wife unless it's not been declared.

    She is on a low wage as a probationary teacher and those wages stop and she reverts to smp in October, approximately 3 months after the baby is born.

    I am a carer and DO get income support. The DWP know we live together but due to smp she is not allowed IS.

    Besides the point, I get income support and we meet the criteria set out, she is 32 weeks pregnant, we have very little money and cannot figure out why we are getting no support from the job centre plus.
    Well by my calculations and beleive me i've just recently been through all this, you as a couple would not be entitled to IS if your partner is working.
    I think the amount for a couple is £100 a week, so anything at that level or above would automatically cancel out any entitledment to IS.
