Not massively - it just leaks a lot and you have to keep your eye on it or it lunches - easy to spot.
Oh and if there will be stuff in it, remember the central locking does not lock the boot (on the early ones at least). The diff suffers most if it's been towing or fully loaded.
The 4WD system is lifted from the early Troopers if I recall correctly....0 -

So I decided to sell it, and as of today I have done so and no longer owe the £5,500 I did this morning!
So it's farewell nice new Peugeot 206 and hello old Renault Clio which is costing me nothing a month and has cheaper insurance and petrol costs!
Now that's good money saving!
Got to thank this site, before I came along we were overspending every month by about £450, yes, that's £450 more going out than coming in...
Now we are just about even and things are going to get better.
Just had to share!
James
Well done James,
You have saved a packet immediatley and a hidden packet i.e. depreciation as the average UK car is worth 35% of its new value 3 years later...
so if you ever need a new(ish) car then best to buy a 3 year old car from auction (or private) where you will pay trade or private price and avoid the dealer whopping a grand or three on top and HP interest Payment plan extras and warranty chuked on the agreement also probaby .
But the cheapest way of running a second hand car is to buy a perfectly good older reliable car like your clio , low insurance low running cost and low depreciation. usually the best cars are about 5 to 6 years old and under 1.5k
take my last car example
mitubishi galant 5 years old 40k miles
paid £1350 at ADT auctions
kept for just over 1 year & sold private for £1690
running costs = 1 set of tyres 1 front bumper, total £300 quid(ish)
therfore I bought owned and ran a car that essemtialy cost me NOTHING as there was NO depreciation NO HP interest or PPP or warranty, I just put petrol in and insured it (using martins methods) and taxed it of course, it was realy quick super reliable drove like a new car , so owning it didnt feel like roughing it. and all for the cost of roughly the equivelent of 3 monthly HP repayments of a new car! New car buyers, more money than sense I recon.
best of luck to you, and congrats on seeing the moneysaving light!

what a great idea - i have discussed sharing my son's car and transferring my insurance to cover him under my no claims bonus - cheaper for him - and having the use of it when he is at work/college. he is all for it. anyone know where i can sell my saab 95 2.3t auto (2001/52) with 72k miles? why is it that the most obvious solutions are the hardest to see?0
