powergen con??????

I am with powergen...online, just looked at my latest bill from end of march and noticed i have been underestimated as to how much energy i have used, my wife recons they came and read the meter but have not used the readings.

I have corrected the readings but notice that the tarrifs increased on the 31st March, will i have to pay for the extra units at the new price...if so, have i been ripped off???

Well my supplier apportions the amounts charged at old and new by the number of days of each related to the whole charging period. It's the only logical way unless one has a sort of Father Electricity, who comes down the wires when we're all asleep and reads the meters

"Now now don't peep from under the covers; he might not read yours if you do that."

Sorry could not resist; only joking!

If the underestimate is such that it clearly goes back before 31st March - then you should easily be able to persuade them to re-open and recalculate that bill?

But I think it's too much of a co-incidence that they read the meter(s) 31st March - to co-incide with their price increase. So are you sure that's not just an estimate? In which case you just provide the readings and ask they recalculate - up to 31st March

  • Talking of cons........ Powergen have just produced my latest online quarterly bill and I am now £90 in arrears which I can understand after the winter and the price rises. What I can't understand is that they have now (without consulting me!) changed my direct debit from £46 a month to £82!! I tried to ring them about it and the lines were so busy that after 20 minutes I hung up, went through Pigsback and used Uswitch to change to Seeboard which says it will save me £100 a year. Hope I've done the right thing!
