"adventure" travel insurance

I have recently been searching for travel insurance through several price comparison websites. One of the options is always winter sports but I cannot seem to find an "adventure" option. Specifically, I would like to try paragliding and diving to about 25 m. Is there a travel insurance company who would cater for this?

Nationwide Insurance used to include hazardous activities as long as they were a one-off and not the main reason for the holiday. However they have since changed underwriters so it may be different, but worth checking.

Pooh, you'd probably be better off calling the ins co as you can add cover to most policies, but it may be too complicated for you to DIY on-line.

try - http://www.world-first.co.uk/ - they cover up to 30m scuba but not on their "set" policy does it mention parachuting. call and ask

IMG will do this I think and let you specify the activity

  • Hi PoohWinnie,

I am on here researching exactly the same issue as you at the moment. I have found quite a few companies that include extreme sports in their policies, such as: Insure and go, Preferential, and Multitrip.

However, the best company I have seen by far is Down Under Insurance. They are very reasonably priced, and if the activity you wish to partake in is not covered by the basic policy, you can add a 'day' of this activity for the policy for around £6-£10. They have many sports such as Scuba diving, bungee, sky diving, etc.

I think I will go with this company, but I am currently trying to find out more about their reputation and who they are underwritten by.

    Hope this helps you!

    :) xx
