We are replacing the en suite shower. Do we go for a stone one or a acrylic one. We can pick up a hard wearing acrylic one in B&Q half price 17.50 with a 10 yr warranty. The stone ones also have a 10yr warranty. They cheap one in B&Q seems very solid compared to what we have a present. The present one is rather flimsy and very flexable, but then it was put in by the developers and although raise up was until recently supported only on one side
. It cracked and we had it repaired as a tempory job, hence the reason for a new shower tray. Also best place to buy a shower door for the cubicle, we onlt need a door as it is in a recess. Sixe is 760x760. Thanks

The more rigid the better. Some cheap acrylic ones are so weak and flexible that you get persistant problems with leaks due to the silicon seal breaking due to movement.Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0

£17.50 for a shower tray and it will be cheap rubbish
You need a Mira Flight tray, Stone/resin compound and i have not seen one fail yet
Should be able to pick one up for around £80
Manhattan showers and trays offer a good product, fantastic service and a price affordable by all
Avoid B&Q and go to a plumber merchant such as PTSHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
The acrylic ones are rubbish !
10 year warranty on a £17.50 tray - good one ! What would be the cost/hassle of replacing it with a new one under the warranty ?0 -
Stone resin all the time, there's no comparison.0

Yep - stone resin every time. Yes they are heavy but one person can do it quite easily. Remove floorboards where it will be installed and replace with 25mm WBP ply. Bed it down on some mortar on top of the ply - makes it very easy to manipulate and get level and also ensures every part of the tray is fully supported.
