Hi everyone,
Sorry if this all sounds stupid, but i got my first cc through the post, just a few questions before i activate it...:o
Its 0% interest on Purchases for the first 12months. It says if you want to withdraw cash, you will pay a 3% fee but then it says you will immediately pay interest on it, but is that still correct if i have my 0% deal...
The reason i got my card is for my holiday in Sept...would i be better off just using it for purchases in America or do they charge for that too?
Sorry for the silly questions, but i want to make sure i use it sensibly! xx

I am sure that cash does NOT count as purchases. There wil be a charge for using the Dollar but I dont know if it will be by poorer exchange rate or fee.
Follow the MSE travel advice tab by :money: at the top of the page for best holiday money deal.

You begin to pay interest on all cash withdrawals irrespective of the 0% deal. In short do not use it for cash withdrawal. The reason i got my card is for my holiday in Sept...would i be better off just using it for purchases in America or do they charge for that too?
It is not the best of cards for foreign usage due to foreign currency charges associated it with. Abbey/Post office/Nationwide (low charge) are the better ones. Amex with 5% cash back in the 1st 3 months is another option. If you have no other option but to use the Tesco card - use it for purchases ONLY and there is an additional 2.75% charge.0 -
Ok thanks for your help & quick replies.
Can i chose the date of the direct debits repayments?
Might just use it for my food shopping lol :rotfl:xx0 -
I have one of these cards also. You can sort of choose the dd date as long as it's before the date the minimum payment is due.0

We use my wife's Tesco credit card as an emergency card when abroad, we normally use a Nationwide one, and have discovered that even when using it for the odd purchase that the amount charged works out less than changing sterling cash into euros. There was one time that the exchange rate was something like 140 euros to £100 in a bureau but a 150 euro purchase was billed on her card at £101 and odd pence even including any charges.
I wouldn't use it like my wife uses it at home though, 49p purchase has been the least she used it for.
