Argos card interest charges!!!!!!!

I purchased a hoover back in december using the argos card buy now pay later 6 months. Just had my july statement come through with £27.69p charges slapped on  I have had no warning that the interest free was about to end (I was expecting a letter telling me) have phoned them & they say it would of been on my last statement which I didn't receive? They were totally unhelpful on the phone & have told me to write them a letter, any ideas how I can get round this

That's how these schemes work, it's up to you to remember to pay them in time, otherwise you get hit with interest from day one.

I don't think you are entitled to a warning to be honest. When you signed up you knew it was a 6 month period at 0%, thats your warning.

The onus is on you to manage your finances, not the lender to manage them for you.

Moral of the story: Keep these things written down in your diary, so you don't forget. It is not the lenders' responsibility to inform you of when to pay to avoid charges, it is the lenders' responsibility to make a profit.

This was the basis of the mobile phone cashback schemes. Most companies expect people to forget and not claim.Unfortunately, when customers got savvy and always claimed on time, these companies went bankrupt !
