Open Office document need to open in Word

I have a document that I wish to open and print. It was typed in
Open Office on my laptop. MS only gave a six months trial of
Office on this laptop. Therefore......
.
I have put the document on a CD to print from my old computer
which has Office installed and printer attached but the document appears as heiroglyphics (?) when I pasted it in Word. Is there any way I can get round this?

    Hi
You can have the document converted to PDF then it will open and print using Adobe Acrobat Reader which you might have installed.
You send the document to a website, then download the PDF version or have it emailed to you.
This is the website:-convert to PDF
(If you haven't got Acrobat Reader installed then ignore this post!)

Microsoft Office is not Open Office ! so Install Open Office its FREE !

Alternative try and use Wordpad comes with XP and I assume Vista, that may open it. Make sure you try the original file, not the one you copied and pasted.

Did you type it in a strange font??

Can you open it on your laptop and change the font to something standard and try again?

Open it in Open Office, then save it as a Word doc. You should then be able to open that Word doc in MS Office.

I think it's the way I tell 'em or you misunderstood me. I did recently download Open Office to be able to do various documents. When I used the word "Office" again I was referring to that part of MS Office which is no longer available on my laptop.

Download "OpenOffice" for free http://www.openoffice.org/ . It will probably cope with above file..

Yes, I did use an unusual font. It was larger than normal and like handwriting. It was going to be a Good Luck letter to my favourite cardiologist who is now a consultant at a new hospital.

I thought that in Open Office I would also find an appropriate background for the document. Maybe I should just buy a card??

I'll see if this is possible but first I will try the PDF suggestion (I have got Adobe Acrobat Reader).

I always forget how versatile Google is! Will have a look there.
Can't wait to see what happens when Google bring out their rival operating system.
