Liquidation

Hi

The company my husband works for went into Administration on 18th May this year, the liquidators have stated that he can make a claim through the Redundancy Payments Office to get his redundancy money, holiday pay and owed wages.

In the brochure they gave him it was stated that this would be paid out between 2 and 6 weeks but as yet we have received no cash, I phoned the recievers today and they have stated that they have not had the information from the court yet and are not in a position to chase this information so the employees won't be getting their money until they get the information from the court.

Has anyone else been in this situation and how long did it take for them to get what is entitled.

My husband has been lucky and has found himself a new job but my father worked for the same company and his savings won't last much longer and as he is 62 has found it nigh on impossible to get another job.

Thanks

    Hi there

    So sorry to hear this.

And yes this happened to my hubby as well.

Just days before xmas the steel plant went into administration, so I know how difficult this must be for you. Approx 400 of them sent home, the minute they walked through the door at work.

Your hubby should receive updates from the RPO on a regular basis, I think it was about 6 - 8 weeks before he received anything from them, then its paid then throughout the months.

Also the union taken them to court as well, because with no notice, they won an award for that as well, so it may be a case for your hubby as well if this is what happened with them (that they knew nothing of this, and with no notice).

However as Mckneff said you hubby can still make a claim for Job seekers or benefit as well, so give the jobcentre a call, or you can do a claim online and they will call back to go through everything with your hubby, and give him an appointment to go direct to the jobcentre.

Good luck and I wish your hubby all the best as well.;)

  • Thanks for the advice, my father is receiving Job seekers allowance and his mortgage is covered for a year, but his JSA doesn't even cover half the bills he has to pay that is why he is having to use his savings, he is now worried about what will happen after the year as his mortgage still has 3 years to go.
