Hi, I've had a look through some of the threads relating to tis, but I wanted to know which ones people thought were the cheapest and best value for money.
I'm really interested in getting some, and wondered which ones were the cheapest and best.

The cheapest would probably be making your own but otherwise Popolino are very cheap and effective. Here is a link: http://www.ecomenstrual.co.uk/shop/Popolini_Organic_Menstrual_Pads.html

Disposable sanitary towels are actually only a fairly recent invention - when I was a teenager my mum cut up flanellette sheets into squares which were then folded up to use - and laundered on the boil wash to reuse again and again. With nine children, five of whom were girls, necessity was the mother of invention - can't say it was for 'green' reasons but thinking back it was probably more eco-friendly than the landfill we produce now.
Same concept as terry towelling nappies - seems 'gross' nowadays but 40-50 years ago no-one had heard of disposables.....0 -
They are really easy to make - bit of cotton or minky or something for top, hemp jersey or something absorbent in middle, and waterproof backing (or wool).
They aren't the cheapest, but you can get some great ones from Weenotions and Luxury Moon.0 -
If you look on www.clothnappytree.com there's a section in the forum about re-usable sanitary protection (or cloth san pro as it's called on there
)
Also check out www.luxurymoon.co.uk who sell loads of different types

Here are instructions, with patterns + photos for making both straight pads, or ones with wings.TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -
Moon Cups aren't the only Menstrual Cups available and they're not right for everybody, I don't even use mine since I tried other brands. Lunette and Meluna are well worth considering, as are all the other brands.
This community has all the info you'd need about Cups and there is also a link to a community about re-usable pads:

Sorry OP, but it had already been taken slightly OT and I like to make people aware that there are way more Cups available than just the Moon Cup.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0
