Ebid or Amazon or Both?!

I used to sell quite a bit on eBay, but left my sellers account when the draconian and profiteering 'must use PayPal' rules came in. Since then I have hardly been back as a buyer either and may close the lot down.
I have been selling some stuff for free using the local Friday Free Ads, and it was a refreshing change to have people come round (no post!) and hand over that old-fashioned cash without hassle. However, for some items it is no good and I know I can better prices elsewhere.
To this end, are eBid and Amazon any better than eBay or is it essentially the same old hassle as eBay is?

Ebid is like Ebay in that you can list your own items with photos and descriptions etc. Amazon don't have auctions anymore so you list against a catalogue entry.
There are threads for both on this board and you might want to have a quick read to get a feel for them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Amazon has higher fees than ebay, ebid doesn't sell much of anything (and if you do sell, you won't get paid). Worth dipping your toe in both, but don't expect to find much better than ebay. Basically, you get what you pay for.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

I find amazon can be good if you have the right items and are willing to wait. The problem with ebid is the customers are very thin on the ground0

If you think that about ebay and paypal, wait until you experience the pleasures of amazon payments.
At least with ebay you can offer other accepted payment options (within ebay terms). You don't even have the choice on amazon - it's their payment system or go elsewhere.
Also unlike amazon, you don't get charged fvf on postage with ebay.
Good luck!
Try your local newsagents window - probably more viewers than ebid, no fvfs and you decide the rules of the trade"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
It is also worth remembering that even with ebid you may find you have to offer paypal as buyers expect it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks, I think I will stick with the free-ads and boot fairs then. Can't beat cash-in-the-hand and no postage or silly rules.0
