Has it always done this ?
If not then try bleeding the radiator.

The system in my old house was quite noisy due to the pipes under the floor hitting against wood beams, i ended up having to remove the floorboards to fix it.

Sounds like yours isnt so bad though.
  • Hi Shanni,
I agree with Alan that the noise is either due to air or more likely an expansion noise where a pipe is touching the flooring.
It could be as simple as just where the pipe comes through the floor to the radiator where the hole for the pipe is not big enough, or, if not you will need to lift some floor boards to find the problem and then either notch out the joist a bit more or pack around the pipe with some felt pipe lagging.
Not as complicated a job as it may sound! - Hows your DIY?

Hope you get it sorted as I know exactly how you feel regarding the tap tap noise.

So, to bleed the radiator, I put the key thing in th end and turn and let out any water? How much and for how long do I let out any water?

I remember trying this years ago and water just kept coming and coming...

  • All you need to do is turn the radiator key a little and you should hear air coming out,as soon as water comes out turn the key back to shut it off.
