Why is my typing jumping around?!

Please help before I throw my computer out the window!
Have a Dell Studio laptop, and when I type it completely randomly puts the flashy line that you type from into a different place, ie jumps backwards or upwards several lines/pages/paragraphs and you end up typing in the middle of a sentence. It's taking forever to type this as I keep having to edit. Best is when it randomly uses the back space button and goes back a page and loses a post. Gotta love that. HELP!

Ive had a similar problem, there is a solution (if your hand is touching the touchpad while typing). Go into control panel and click on mouse. Select the tapping tab and look for tap off when typing. Click in the box to activate and slide the delay slider to long. If you use a seperate mouse you can also turn off the touchpad, something like Fn F7. Its temporary and you can turn your touchpad back on by repeating the key stroke.Gas doc on the loose0

as aminchon mentioned it could be that your palm is touching the mousepad that is causing the cursor to jump around whilst typing.
I did have a client years ago who said that when she read what was on the screen that it went all funny, problem was she was short sighted and had large boobs, work that one out. Took me a while to think up an explanation lol0 -
