Swine 'flu - What economic impact?

I don't think anyone should underestimate the potential economic impact of H1N1. The virus has already shown resistance to Tamiflu, and the number of people becoming infected will rocket during the winter months.
If the developing world is hit hard, it will really mess things up.0 -

Also bought my FFP2-class valved masks (DIY builders masks are useless) and wrap-around clear safety glasses to limit aerosol contamination in public spaces. You'll need alcohol hand wipes to maintain cleanliness.
£1000 in notes in the safe, plenty of paraffin for the stove and storm-lantern, three weeks of food in store.
This is one of the reasons I love this forum. If I wrote the above, people would instantly know it was biting, sarcasm satire. With you, I'm not so sure...0 -
If the sky falls on our heads it will be worse still.

Be honest, how happy on a scale of 1-10 does it make you that people are dying from something? Surely this is the ultimate doom-!!!!!! for a doomster?
Economic crisis and a pandemic in such a short space of time. Add a meteor crashing in to earth or a good tsunami wiping out a whole coast line and you can die a happy man.0 -
It would be a better pandemic if it was actually more dangerous than certain types of cheese though0

possibly, or possibly not. depends how and if it mutates.0 -

people just go nuts about this sort of stuff, there are people panicking in my office about it, asking to work from home - home being a more dangerous place than swine flu, as well as crossing the road, driving a car, drinking, smoking and eating lettuce.0 -

Are you grumpy tonight my Dearest?
The plus side with a high mortaility issue would be lower house prices I guess (yongue in cheek before the bully boys kick me)
Frankly fed up with fuzzy head confusion and unable to track down anyone I know who would know and whom I would trust to know and not just say they did on the net and finding conflicting information on the relevant goverment websites I've written to DEFRA today for the correct protocol for handling our non registered flock (only have to me defra reg at numbers of fifty and above), and it wll only take fifteen days for them to reply,Jolly good, eh?
