Need some advice - long

We are buying a new build property and had the offer accepted on 01st June 2009. Solicitors were instructed. My husband signed us up to a mortgage advisng service back in 2005 and apparently they charged a one off fee and would do all the works etc for us - however we have since found out that mortgage advisors so the work free of charge anyway and have their fee from the bank/BS - is this true?

My problem is that we instructed our MA back in the first week in June and we are porting our mortgage from Halifax to the new build. Our MA is aware that we needed to complete on the new build by 3rd July otherwise Persimmon wouldnt pay part of the legal fees which we had agreed too. A week after our intial contact and after 2 phone calls we didnt hear anything so rung her head office (we have a mobile no for her) and her manager got her to contact us immediately. She rung to say she had forgotten to get us to sign a form and needed a cheque for valuation to be done. She came that evening and this was completed on 17th June.

We have rung her some many times and she is just really hard to get through too. After seeing her on 17th She said valuation would be completed within a week and that would be it. After a week our sols rung to say nothing had been recieved so we chased her up, was told she was on holiday for a few days and then it was the 3rd July spoke to Persimmon who advised that they were happy to hold off pulling out of the purchase (not sure if this was just a threat) as long as we get it done urgently.

After many more phonecalls and me leaving a answerphone message yesterday saying that could she let me have the details and I would chase up the valuation, I had a stroppy phonecall from her saying that the valuation would be done within 46 hours and all the paperwork was done.

In the meantime, we have a phonecall from Persimmon who advised that they had contacted a valuers that aparently everyone use (not sure how this works) and they had no instruction from our MA. She said that they may be using someone else but that this was very unlikely.

I have rung MA again and left a message asking her to ring me urgently but after 2 hours no phonecall has arrived and I am guessing she has clocked off for the week.

So any advice? I have never done this before so dont know who is telling me the truth. Am I just being impatient - do these things take a lot of time?

Thanks

no you are not being impatient - it does not take 6 weeks to organise a survey. First thing Monday morning phone her boss - and dont listen to the "he's in a meeting" bull and speak to him and say that you will be getting another MA on wednesday unless the surveyor is instructed and you have spoken to the surveyor to check that this has happened, and that you will sue them and report them to FSA unless they pull their fingers out.... they are a member of FSA i hope ?

re them getting a fee from the lender as well - this is common practice - how much have you paid them and when did you pay it ?

Thanks Clutton - yes they are a member for the FSA.

My husband doesnt remember the exact amount and when but we have all our paperwork in the attic (have moved into my mother in laws until new house is ready) so will get him to look when he comes home from work.
