What is taking the solicitor so long

    Thanks chickmug.

My view is firmly that people should do their own jobs. EAs have a job to do, so do solicitors. But they cannot do each other's jobs and should not be asked to by clients.

OK if the layperson is confident but many solicitors are so arrogant that many feel intimidated by them. So a good agent can do what they are there for, to act as the agent for a person, finsd out the detail and and report it back to the client.

The trouble is there are inexperienced agents who will not have a clue what the solicitor is talking about and get it wrong.

When I last moved my solicitor seemed to be draging his feet so I turned up in his office with a big thick book, made myself comfy, and told him to give me a shout when he was ready for me to sign (would of taken a flask as well had I thought about it ! ).
He said he was waiting for something from the vendors solicitors ( next door) so I walked next door and did the same.
All was sorted within a hour !

Right finally extracted some information from the solicitor, and have found out that he has just now (Today) raised queries on the contract with the other solicitors, so god only knows how much longer this is going to take.

This should have been a quick transaction due to it being a chain free purchase but here we are now heading into week 8.

Solicitors, on the whole, see NO reason to keep their clients in the picture, don't like being questioned and do not like being asked for any real details. Some, given the same task, can take four weeks and some can take twice or even three times as long. Soem go on holiday for a week or two and the file is left to wait their return

Welcome to the world of property selling and buying where you need to chase everyone, about everything and at every stage.

Have told the Agent that he has sent queries to the other solicitor and asked them to inform me as soon as something is sent back to my solicitor, so that I can continue to bug him until this thing is done.
One thing is for sure this solicitor will never have any business from me again.

See my post 12 why not ask your EA to get you a detailed and up to date report?
