TBH - sorry OP, but I agree with the others ... £10 per week contingency isn't a huge amount when you've got a child. However, others on here, have fed families of four on £20 for the month so I guess £40 a week for 3 of you could be cut back.

Yep. Eat fruit and veg when in season, use mostly veggie sources of protein (you get lots of meals from a £1 bag of dried lentils or beans), use the cheaper cuts of meat, grow some of your own herbs etc. to save buying expensive stuff, etc. Of course, 3YOs have different needs to adults - have a word with your doctor as to what's appropriate for them.

Have you got the cheapest deal on your gas and electricity? Use a price comparison site to check - and you may then get cashback for switching, too.

If you don't need a landline, you could consider O2 (with cashback via quidco) for cheaper broadband. I've found their service v good, too.

Can you get a cheap (or freecycle) bike? - save on petrol, and get fitter...

You don't seem to have budgeted for clothes, presents, books, toys, dissertation binding, costmetics, etc. Worth thinking how much you'll need for all this. You're not planning on a holiday that year, I guess.

Going through quidco or another cashback service for what you can might get a few more quid cashback. If you're not going to abuse a credit card, AMEX are doing a good deal on their platinum card (go through quidco to get it) where you get a v good cashback rate for three months. Worth going for this at some point, perhaps.

It looks very tight. You almost certainly won't get any means-tested funding with that much in the bank. Possibly worth asking about any other funding, but this can be very competitive. Of course, you've got money that you can dip into if needs-be: if you've cut back as much as possible, and don't want to (or can't) work to earn additional money, you'll just need to use savings if you have something you need to get.

Troll-y troll-y troll-y... No one who gets a 2:2 can even get on to a master's course worth doing...Most semi-intelligent people could get a 2:1 with their eyes closed and if they don't they're not cut out for the world of academia! I call shenanigans.
