How much are you being charged? When did the charges begin?

Same things happening with me, with HSBC, I have transfered all my banking now over to another bank, hoping the endless charging would stop with HSBC, but they continue to charge me £125 a month, even though I am no longer using my HSBC account.

I got some gd advice from here, and she drafted a template letter for me.
Requesting that HSBC freeze all charges and interest, and if they comply then I would make a token payment to them each month to pay off the debt.

Sent my letter yesterday by recorded delivery.... fingers crossed they respond, and adhere to my request.

All the best with your problem matey :)

    Hi mandij30

When charges are posted on your account they are the result of transactions that occured at least 21 days before the date they are applied to ensure that you are pre notified. This means that you may have stopped using the account in the May and still have charges levied in June for example. Provided you have you have cancelled all your direct debits and standing orders you wont accrue any further charges as they are made per transaction rather than per day in an unauthorised overdraft. You should find that only debit interest is applied on the overdrawn balance in future.
