I agree. For my second year at uni I rented with a private landlord. Total NIGHTMARE. We ended up without hot water for 6 weeks because the company would not deal with us, the tenants, only the landlord and he was very difficult to contact in those situations.
For the last two years though I have rented with two different estate agents and found them much easier to deal with. Someone always answers the phone and the repairs/problems have always been dealt with promptly0
