Contents insurance for 6 months?

is it possible to get Contents insurance for 6 months (for less than 12 would cost)

Yes, but only the obvious way:
Get a quote from an insurer with a low or £0 cancellation charge. Take a 12 month policy, pay up front. Cancel it as of the 6 month point - though ring well in advance. You should then get a premium refund.
Paying in installments will make it worse not better.
I have never personaly seen a 6 month contract. Why do you need it? If you are moving elsewhere in the UK you could just change the address and pay the additonal charge/premium required then? That way you build up NCD. Of course, I guess this is not the case!0 -
