With Xmas just around the corner with only 1 banking day left, then 4 non banking days, then 2 banking days and then another 3 non banking days any payment you make will be held up somewhere. You could have BT'd 'to' Egg [i.e. cash to bank account] on Yesterday [22nd] and you would have the cash tomorrow. Now even if you BT tomorrow, Egg's cash won't reach your bank until the following Friday. I should wait for the Mint cheques if I were you at this stage.

When does the 0% period start generally? Once the card is activated by the holder, or once it is dispatched by the provider? If it is when it is activated, one way to ensure you make the max out of the interest free period is by delaying activation of your card.

  • No cheques yet though

You could well end up having to chase Mint for the cheques.

I had a new Mint card about 6 weeks ago and there's no sign of any cheques yet.

Correct. After 2 weeks of having my mint card, I phoned them up to ask where the cheques were, & they said they hadn't been ordered for some reason, so they ordered them, & told me I'd have to wait up to 3 weeks, (they actually took 2 1/2 weeks). So instead of waiting I went for the egg method which took about a week to reach my current account, alot quicker than waiting for the cheques.

  • Thanks for your replies, luckily the cheques arrived friday morning so paid directly into bank :)

i have read conflicting reports though, that you would only be able to use the activation number on one of the versions though

    That's correct.

If you tried to install the 64 bit version on a CPU that wasn't 64 bit compatible the installer wouldn't proceed passed the initial steps. You're not prompted to enter your key until much further on in the process.
