Can anybody tell me how you go about insuring a lease car? Or is it part of the lease agreement?

Gaztop, you insure it as normal. You tell the insurers the owner is (eg) Lombard, and that you are contract hiring it.

There are some excellent insurance companies that love CH customers, most companies will do it, some telesales operations can't manage it in the script. I have never known a case where a customer said they were stung on a lease car. Car is car. Risk of crashing or theft or whatever is the same.
  • I thought you were insane, and that confirms it :rotfl:

Insanity is only looking at something a different way. The other massive thing that needs to be taken into account is safety. If the worse happens, most situations mean you are much better off in the latest, safest model with all the gizmos to keep you alive. That needs a cost/balance but it's a hard one.

Anyway, Whitley Bay is a lovely tourist destination for poor people and benefit cheats in the North East. You can marvel at the derelict Spanish City. Lovely. I am an artist. What is the sound of one hand clapping? :)

I would say most are well looked afer especially since motability pay a bonus if the car is handed back in good condition.? Dents/scratches can be easily spotted so if they too bad dont buy it and a clutch is not as expensive as a lot of people think.

There are some terrific Motability cars our there, but the cream get plucked by select first dibs dealers. The rest (for that read the dross) are offered out at general auction.

2 years ago I was looking at cars in Car Giant. There were a lot of Motability cars on site and nearly all were marked with the "This car has damage" disclaimer. Damage ranged from someone who had smoked in the car and never opened the windows to rust on 1 or 2 year old cars where the bodywork and sills were damaged by wheelchairs being lugged in and out.

Generally I would say that the nice Motab cars are out there but sold at premium prices by dealers, but the overwhelming majority at car supermarkets are dross.

Let me know if I'm being unrealistic but I don't want to pay more than 2k deposit per car and no more than £200 per month per car but would like a solid car which would protect us in the event of an accident, i.e. no Vauxhall Corsa for example. An estate for one of them would be perfect for our needs due to buggy.
What about a Kia/Hyundi 7 or 5 year warrenties and 5 star safety finance it over 5 years the Kia and you've still 2 years of warrenty without finance £200 a month would get one

However fixing the Merc if its not got rust (big trouble on the car of that age on the front wings get that fixed and there great cars
