I believe their standard install fee covers this. As a bonus you get to reasonably decide where the Master Socket will be placed. Have a think about that one before s/he turns up

Hi Crazyfool2k9
BT will install one master socket normally in the hallway of your front door in your home. If you require an additional extension socket(s) they are priced as follows:-
Extension Socket (per extension) £ 70.00
Plus Visit Charge £ 115.00
Total £ 185.00
Note:- The visit charge will not be applied if the extension sockets are installed on the same visit as the master socket. Extension sockets and wiring are sold by BT as apparatus and have a 12 month guarantee. After this date the socket and wiring becomes the customer’s responsibility and BT does not maintain it. The engineer who fits the extension socket will leave the customer a guarantee card. Customers must keep the guarantee card and their acknowledgement letter so that if a fault occurs within the 12 month guarantee this will be the customers proof of purchase.“Official Company Representative

Read all about the line connection special offer here. They won't tell you about it, you have to ask specifically for it. Install any extension yourself, as you can see they charge £££££. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
thought i would update this i got the connection charge fore free:D but on the downside when the engineer came he said the house has no phone line to it:mad: and that they are going to look into setting up a new line. anyone else had this problem?? any advice would be helpful. they said it could take 2-3 weeks!!!0

This doesn't make any sense at all. If the line was physically there along with a master socket already, they wouldn't have to make an appointment, as all they do is reconnect you at the exchange.
The whole point of sending an engineer out is out is to install a line. Thats' what the standard connection charge covers. No free lunch, and no free laptop

New builds usually have underground cabling to the property from the street cabinet but that does not mean that there are spare lines from the cabinet to the exchange, which may be several miles away. This doesn't make any sense at all. Your post does not make any sense at all either. Engineers who visit properties do not run extra cables back to the exchange when they find that there are no spare pairs available, which is probably why BT are quoting 2-3 weeks for this extra work to be done. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Good that you got that sorted.
Bad that "BT Company Rep" used his MSE privileges and posted in the thread to "help" you by letting you know the (extortionate) cost of getting an extension fitted, but couldn't bring himself to let you know about the moneysaving free connection offer!0
