American Airlines or British Midland ?

I'm planning a trip MAN Chicago in June and wondered if anyone has any experience of either of these carriers as the prices are pretty similar and both are direct.
The best prices I've found are on airline network £374 AA - any other suggestions of where to look would be much appreciated.

i flew with aa over to chicago from glasgow last year, i thought there service was fantastic.
plenty to eat on the plane and plenty of drink too, couldnt recommend them highly enough.
on my way home my internal flight from indianapolis to chicago was cancelled due to storms which meant i missed by transatlantic flight, no problem with aa they arranged me a hotel for the night, booked me on a continental flight the following night leaving from new york. So i had a extra day of sightseeing in new york which wasnt expected.

Ask the nice people on FlyerTalk. You may get some genuine answers.
I've flown AA several times and have had no problems, though I couldn't say the food\drink was anyhting to write home about.
They regularly overbook and if you get 'bumped' they offer a decent recompense and put you on the next flight.
We each got $1000 flight voucher on a £250 ticket a few years back!

I've volunteered for bumping on AA and got free flight coupons and business class seats on the next flight. Luckily I have a good ear and heard them discussing it.....so we bumped off a flight to Fort Worth and onto a JFK flight. We ended up flying into Chicago Midway rather than O'Hare but all-in-all, we got there hours before we should've.
Turned out nice, I say.
AA have the oldest trolley-dollies I've ever seen, FWIW
In the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?0 -

We have been on both. American Airlines were better in my view :T
British Midlands had delays :mad:0 -
Check what aircraft AA is using on that route. Their smaller aircraft aren't great for long-haul - after a nightmare trip last year (to orlando via chicago on the way out and boston on the return) i vowed never to fly with them again!! if you get a nice big plane then you get all the nice extras, but flying back to manchester from boston we were stuck on a little plane with only 6 seats across. the little things that i hadn't appreciated before, like comfy headrests were missing and it wasn't a fun flight! i've never flown british midlands though...

From another thread there is a fare sale on with AA and MAN-Chicago is one of the destinations. All I know is you have to book by 13 April. The rates is £232, so you may get a bargain with AA still."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0
