Can I appeal?

I parked in Clapham the other evening. Was in a rush for the cinema and noticed the sign on the other side of the road said that parking restrictions ended at 6.30pm - which I expected. Got back to the car to find a ticket and looked around to find out why and, on my side of the road, was a smaller sign to say that restrictions ended at 8.30pm. Is this normal to have different rules for opposite sides of the street? Does anyone think I have grounds for appeal?

Unforunately perfectly normal. One side of a street could be run by a different council than the other for example and have different parking rules. You should always check the signs on the side you are parked on. However councils often get the parking ticket wrong so check that it is correct by scanning/photographing it and hosting on tinypic, see stickies, and post the url here without the http:// bit on. One of the experts le to assist you.would then be abI'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Thank you so much for responding. Don't know what you meant by 'stickies' but went to tinypic and have done something - just hope it is right. Don't think it is different councils in Clapham - just different rules. This ticket looks fair and square for my ignorance - but if there is a loophole i'd be terribly grateful to find it. i32.tinypic.com/kbzipw.jpg[/IMG]
That's only half of the ticket. You need to show us all of it.0 -
I've no idea how to do it, I'm afraid, but there are probably instructions somewhere.
The picture showed up fine for me, but it was only the front of the ticket. The back is just as important.
It would also be useful if you could post up some photos of the signs.0 -
Sorry people. Have just checked my link and it doesn't work!
When I went back to take photographs of the signs, there was a large one at the entrance to the street that said 'Controlled Zone Mon-Fri 8.30am - 6.30pm and another one said 'Red Route then the blue 'P' Mon-Sat 7am-7pm 1hour No return within 2 hours. I assumed from this that, as it was after 7pm, I was okay. I got further confirmation from the sign across the street that said Permit holders or pay at machine Mon-Fri 8.30am-6.30pm. I think it was perfectly reasonable for me to make the assumption, after seeing these signs, that I was legally parked. I have therefore used the template letter on the site to ask that the ticket be waived and attached photos of the signs mentioned. Wish me luck!
This does sound as if signage may have been misleading.
You really need to take this to 'PePiPoo forums' where you will get advice from experts and can post links and pics immediately.
