Esta Query For US Travel

Hi,

I wonder if someone who has already done this could clarify something for me. I'm filling out the Esta form for entry into the U.S. and when I get to the "Given Name" field I'm a bit unsure what to put as I think the help section is contradictory.

The help section says :

Enter your first (given) name as the first name appears on your passport under the First or Given Name field. Do not include the middle name in this field. First name is required to complete the application. If you have no first name, then enter the letters FNU which stands for First Name Unknown.

So the first sentence say enter your first (given) name as it appears on your passport. Then it goes on to say not to include your middle name. However, on my passport my First name & middle name are both listed in the "Given Name" field on my passport, there is no separate middle name field on my passport.

So it's a do I or don't I question.

Anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks

Just give the first name on your passport without the middle name.

The passport states 'Given Names', so as it says on the ESTA form just put down the first one.

You don't have to, but I would recommend printing off your ESTA at the end of the application process, or at least writing down the number, but do it very carefully as the number is long and complicated with a mixture of letters and numbers.

You can then update it with future flight and accommodation information although this isn't mandatory.
