Got a new pc delivered from dell tried to set it up got most of the way then monitor went blank scratched my head for 10 mins cant remember if i switched it off with the button or pulled plug rang up dell guy said it was probably me pulling the plug out to early during installation so tried to install again from the partition that has factory reset image this had the same result so now its only an hour old and he talks me through installing the os again with discs provided which in its self is a pain as it writes over the hard disc so i lose the quick recovery function from partition which was one of the features that appealed to me when buying, and so we added the drivers etc switched the machine off to reboot and everyting looked at is it was going to work entered my password then the screen went blank the technician had put the phone down 30 seconds earler so he doesnt know yet,but i will tell hime tomorrow as he said he would ring to check up on it.
Ive looked on the net and this seems to be a massive problem with people installing vista and there monitors going blank,it seems to me as if dell are going to say its my fault for messing up the install but i dont think i have.
Have i got a leg to stand on it hasnt even been connected to the net yet as we didnt get that far even if its a vista problem i think dell should sort it out as it hadnt even got connected to the net and should be built to function.
could anyone tell me what i should do im very frustated and didnt expect to waste £330 in the space of a day and feel i shouldnt have to pay for it to be sent to dell to be sorted out and they might not even offer to do that
i should add this problem isnt common to dell it seems to effect lots of different computers

have you got any links to this problem,
sounds like a very old problem to me when vista first came out some graphic card drivers could take an good 30min or so to load right the first time on some pc's ,
do you get the boot screen come up on it ,that screen before windows loads ,i might even say dell and the pic might be an old one too,you can get the idea
if you get this it's a driver problem
if not send it back to dell
Distance Selling Regulations and all thatthere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
