I am just about to get a new kitchen and thinking of using Howdens.

The builder is being a bit vague on the price, so I am thinking of either getting the kitchen myself or using the website below to price the kitchen up and then show the builder.

My question is - the website below, are the prices competitive, I can't seem to get a straight answer out of anyone from Howdens!

The kitchen I am interested is Saponetta Cream.

EDIT: I think this website knocks 50% off the list price, according to another thread I saw in which a builder pasted Howden's 'list prices'.

I was under impression that Howdens only supplied the trade.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • Howdens is a trade-only supplier. Your builder is probably being a bit vague because he'll get a big discount from Howdens, then add a percentage on in the cost to you, then charge you on top for fitting. Ask him for a clear itemised quote then you know exactly how much you'll be paying. Most decent fitters are happy to send you to Howdens, let you look at the units and appliances, let you pay Howdens directly and then charge their fitting costs. get some more estimates if the fitter who's being vague won't do any of the above.
  • Before you get your builder to put in a overpriced Howdens kitchen why dont you phone a couple of independent kitchen fitters to give you a price on supply and fit. Im sure you will be able to get a better kitchen and installation service than your builder will supply.
