Birthday advice - for 26 year old!

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right board to post on, but I want to do something special for my boyfriends birthday. He always does something lovely for mine and each year I think I'll do something special, but never seem to get round to it.
His birthday is on a Thursday and we;ve both got the day off work, so I'm looking for suggestions on things we can do together that won't cost a fortune. He likes golf, cars, all things gadgety. I know he's been hinting that he'd like me to play golf with him, but the way the weather is at the moment, there's no guarentee it's going to be good enough weather.
Also - I'd like to book a night in a B&B or something for the night before, so I could pick him up from work and we could go there as a surprise.
We're in Yorkshire - any suggestions anyone?
I've tried to think of something but in all honesty I've not got much imagination.

There's a thread on the travel board at minute about stuff to do in York and you'll find plenty of b & bs there (though bear in mind its kids easter hols-so check availability). I've just been looking at Barnsleys Metrodome cos they've got a wavepool there.0
