I am just about to book flights to one of the above for a week this december. I've never been to the canarys and have read loads on trip advisor but its confusing me even more.
What I'm looking for is a smallish resort, with some nice resteraunts and bars but not rowdy or mad busy (I'm assuming December is quietish?)
Which should I book flights to??

Thanks for that, I've just booked easyjet flights to Lanzarote on the 8th December, Playa Blanca looks lovely and you can visit Fuerteventura for the day aswell so the best of both worlds!
The flights seemed very cheap, £239 for 4 people including 2 checked bags! bargain!!£100 - £10,0000 -
Playa Blanca in Lanzaroteis really nice but hire a car then you can explore the whole island.
There is a lot to see.
You could also take the car over to Fuerteventura & have a drive around the resorts.
It's also a lovely place to stay & the beaches are amazing.0 -
MSE user name Elle1971 lives (or at least used to live) in Play Blanca; you will find info from her here:

Having recently been to both islands, my preference is Fuerteventura. It remains prodominantly unspoilt but has the atmosphere within the resorts that makes for a good holiday. We stayed in costa caleta and we had such a lovely week.
Lanzarote is quite a few years ahead in terms of tourism. We stayed in costa teguise however when we visited playa blanca for the day we realised that the two resorts were very different. Playa Blanca seemed lovely and peaceful.
I hope you have a lovely holiday wherever you decide!0 -
I think there is slightly more to see on Lanzarote and the volcanic landscape is more dramatic. Fuerteventura has the best beaches, although the beaches to the east of Playa Blanca are also good. If you are only going for a week I would keep Fuerteventura for a separate occasion. La Graciosa is a more charming boat excursion, but you'd need a hire car to get to the departure point. The town of Teguise (not Costa Teguise) is also worth visiting on Sunday for the market and local dancing.0
