Creditcard refund

Please help

i am trying to obtain a refund for a hotel reservation i booked online which states is non refundable.

The hotel booking was made in mach 09 as i had tickets to see micheal jackson in concert in july.

Since the tragic news of his death obviously there will be no concert so no longer require the hotel booking.

I have spoken to both the hotel and the booking company and they dont seem to be prepared to refund the money even in these circumstances.

Therefore i am wondering if it would be possible to claim this back from my creditcard, and if so how can i do this?

you can't. they are non refundable. the hotel is perfectly willing to provide you with their services, you just don't want them. you can only claim off your credit card provider if the hotel won't provide the service you paid for. Sorry!

Don't see how you can get you credit card involved here.

Did the hotel advertise the rooms specifically for those who want to attend the concert? You probably went in for that room because it was at a good price, and it was at a good price due to the restrictions on booking. Basically, you have booked a room with an agreement that the money is non-refundable. Now you do not want the room (for whatever reason) - the hotel can enforce the non-refundable rule.

The only way you'd get a refund would be if it was part of a package.

But it sounds like you booked a hotel independently in which case you are not entitled to a refund.
If you wanted a refundable rate then you should have booked that (or got insurance), but of course that would cost you more. I would guess you went for the cheapest rate and it's cheap because the hotelier gets guaranteed income.

It's a case or buyer remorse and buyer beware (in future).

non-refundable means just that. It's their 'fee' for the work they've done thus far. You can't, as others have said, claim on your credit card either. Why not take the booking and enjoy a few days away anyway?

I do love the irony of someone trying to get a refund on something that's non-refundable.
