  • Whom do you bank with? Best to approach them and apply for one of the plastic with them. Your needs seem to be fairly frugal, and as such, any Visa / Mastercard card should suit your requirements.
It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!
  • Try Capital One card. They tend to give very low credit limit with high APR (around 30% APR)

    Yeh

Look at the capital one classic card which is designed for people with bad or non existant credit histories.

Credit limits given are between £200 and £2,500

Like Systemaddict says - 30% interest rates !
  • Cheers for the info guys

    Hello

I'm not sure where I should have posted this so apologies if it needs moving.

I'm in a bit of a quandry. I was bored a little earlier and filled in some competitions etc on MyOffers. I filled in some competitions etc for my husband, and received what I thought was the usual junk mail.

What I found was a mail from Motley (something or other but seen the name mentioned here) and found myself, with the help of my husband, filling in a form for an Egg Card account. It was more out of curiosity's sake than anything else as my husband didn't think his credit rating was that good.

Well ... we duly filled the form in and Egg mailed back and appear to have offered us a loan with a £12,000 limit.

We're not sure what to do with this offer (which has to be finalised) but as I've seen other people applying for them, would it be wise to take it so to speak? I feel stupid asking that.

We're not very good when it comes to money matters, preferring to deal in cash.

    Any advice please?

Apologies again if I've posted this in the wrong place (and it looks like I have).

Youve applied for a loan , so if you don't really, really need the cash, and since its not been formalised, i.e. signed and returned the docs, then you can rip the paperwork up and forget about it. Though not having the letter infront of me, I would give them a call and tell them that your no longer interested.
  • Thank you for replying Deemy, I hoped you would :)

Having skim read most of the board it appearred to be one of those cards that most people wanted.

Although there are some cashback offers that look appealing, it's not something we need and tbh, it's bothered me since the mail arrived. Maybe the appeal lay in obtaining one or turning the offer down and regretting it.

Basically I suppose I needed to see it in black and white that if we don't need it we shouldn't bother.

    Many thanks again Deemy.

There is nothing to suggest that the poster has a bad credit record.
Why on the Money Saving Expert site do you recommend an interest rate with APR 30% ???

  • Let's hope that when MSE has an overhaul soon that they get rid of the post count.

It will put Mr Shilling out of business.
