Hi,

I have recently been having problems booking appointments to view a couple of properties from BELVOIR! Lettings. Firstly, I made bookings online to view the properties and received emails stating I would be contacted in relation to them. After about 3 days I heard nothing.

I then decided to give the local BELVOIR office a ring: No answer (I rang during the day too). Eventually I got through later in the afternoon, requesting a confirmation, only to be told by a bloke in broken english that he hadn't checked the internet bookings for a couple of days, so I gave the details to him over the phone. Unfortunately, he didn't have his diary, so he agreed to give me a ring back to make sure it is okay......You've guess it, he didn't ring back!

After another couple of days waiting, I have rung BELVOIR back regarding my confirmation. I got through to the same bloke who sounded as though he was driving, only to be told he doesn't know anything of my booking!! He promised to ring me within 15 minutes to get all my details, and here I am, still waiting.

The properties look really nice, and in an ideal location for us, but if I am going to deal with idiots like this for the time I live there, should I just forget about it?! I'm also a bit miffed because I have also found one of the propertys advertised elsewhere on the internet, but the rent is £50 a month less: Would anyone consider this to be an honest error, or is this a normal dishonest practice?

I have also googled for BELVOIR lettings complaints, which resulted in review sites full of very unhappy tennants and landlords, including bonds not returned, agents telling tennants to f**k off, charging for unnecessary cleaning and general distain to both tennants and landlords, basically giving me the impression that as soon as I sign an agreement, they won't give a s**t!

So does anyone have any experience of 'BELVOIR!'? Please let me know before I sign on the dotted line! Their website and shops look so clean and professional, but the company has made my blood boil before I have even viewed a property!

They are franchises so all different,, Go with gut instincts, don't bother, there are lots of places to rent and plenty of other agents...

I don't like Belvoir. I've rented in quite a few different places, and when you're doing viewings you can pretty much guarantee that some of the worst properties you'll see will be with them. The agents seem generally disinterested too, and a couple of times they've been really rude, and there's no real effort to show you any properties. This has happened to us in a couple of different places and we don't even bother looking at anything that's with them anymore - they really didn't impress us when we were viewing with them and they really weren't the kind of agents that we'd want to be dealing with on a regular basis.

They are franchises as sandraslice says - & here's a previous poster's experience with one in N Ireland ( and involving the Head Office) :

Why not contact the local LL association for contact info on LLs who self-manage their properties?

I've used Belvoir and I can say they are great! Really friendly staff, all women I may add. And couldn't be more helpful.

I suppose it depends on the staff in your local agents?

    Hi,

Well I have given them up until 10:30 today to sort out and confirm the viewings for 12pm today...and still nothing! I am not going to bother.

We had found 2 properties from Belvoir, they were both exactly right in location and price...all we wanted was a quick scoot round them to ensure the walls were not falling down - but they couldn't even arrange this, after numerous phonecalls and attempts at email correspondence! The words P*SS-UP and BREWERY spring to mind...

...So all I can say is, if the owners of Belvoir Lettings are reading this, the complete uselessness, rudeness and incompetence of your Huddersfield agent(s) have just cost your company a 99% guarantee of letting out 2 properties today...
