what is this seller up to?

Hi,
I was after a router so had a quick look on e-bay, i came across this seller but decided profile was dodgy.

The things he had for sale have all been relisted, having been sold, mainly to the same buyer.

What do you think they are up to?

At an educated guess - feedback farming. They'll be building up a relatively high score, let the account go dormant for a few months, then launch a number of scam listings over a weekend when Trust & Safety are snoozing.

Although the user names suggests it could be a way of gaining affiliate links, or email address harvesting.

Does seem a bit dodgy, can't understand why he'd bother, if he's trying to get his score up then it won't work as only one + per wk from the same buyer i believe.

It's probably the same person, trading under alternate names, using one to boost the other and so forth.

Especially since the early feedback was from the NARU'd member "dubaicurtis" and this fits the same pattern so I suspect that they are all the same person.

    Shill bidding ;)

Bumps up price or avoids selling an item at below desired price.
    (probably then does a mutual)

Interesting to see the buyer has already done 8 bid retractions and has only been on ebay less than a week.

I reported a similar shill bidder to ebay recently - ebay decided insufficient evidence to act :(
(well if they didn't hide the account names of who bids/wins, I could give them more evidence)

If you look at the guy that gave him his 4 buyer feedbacks (dubaicurtis) you can see that it looks a very similar situation on that account (it's no longer registered) before that account started getting bad feedback...

A lot of people don't bother look at the feedback as well as us MSE'ers do :(

Even then its possible to miss some trends, but I must admit this isn't the most subtle example is it?

I note that the feedback for the eBay user cashbacksites0203

has already been "edited" to remove the other sock-puppet eBay user name.

Presumably cashbacksites0203 is a fan of this site?

logie28, can you remember the user name of the buyer of the items who has now been removed from the feedback list?
