Considering a Debt Relief Order
Options
Hi there all, hope in posting this in the right forum- i figured a DRO and bankruptcy are similiar.
Ok so i have unsecured debt of 9000, rent of 953 a month, plus council tax of 118. My partner and I are both unemployed due to losing our jobs and we are almost out of credit. My partner does not have a crdit history due to never being put on the electoral roll (he has now, 1 month ago) and being in the army (never had a need for credit) so we have had to use all my credit cards to make ends meet. Trouble is, we are down to out last 1000 or so before we have nothing.
Have been rejected for JSA becase my employer claims we (my partner and i) left voluntarily (we didnt, they made us choose between being in a relationship or our jobs i kid you not) and as such, cant get it for 26weeks. So we have ZERO income. We arent in arrears........ yet but after this months rent/tax we wont have a penny. Overdraft and cards are maxed out.
We are applying for jobs everyday, we'll take anything at this stage- trouble is everyone else is in the same boat and we just arent getting anywhere. I think a DRO is our best option. Few questions though...
Will it stop our landlord hassling us for future rent?
Is it possible to rebuild your credit file after the six years?
Any help is appreciated!
