    Africa is rather a large place. Why don't you have a look at the respective countries' forums on Trip Advisor or get a few brochures and see what you fancy (and can afford) ?

    Sorry sturll ( just put your blog in my favs). the thing is we have no idea what is the best country or what time of year for the weather. We want a balloon safari in it but no idea where they are based. Your right i will give trip advisor a go.

    If you look on Trip Advisor then within each country (for example - Kenya) there will be loads of useful info on how to book a safari through local operators and save a whole heap of money booking it that way.

    Why don't you see if you can get a hold of a Virgin or Kuoni worldwide brochure for an idea of locations? I believe that Kenya would probably be your cheapest option, but Tanzania is, I think, a bit dearer but supposed to be better. Moving up the price scale you also have South Africa, Botswana etc - there really is a lot to choose from but the prices can be very high indeed depending on the level of exclusivity you require.
